Just as Storm Claudia swept through the north-west the prior day, City swept United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement three-nil victory for their manager's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their leadership claims as they reinforced their position at the top of the table.

Consecutive Losses for United

This result represented consecutive WSL setbacks for the United manager's side for the first time since last May, putting them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.
