“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally clarified that the signal was entirely unintentional, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
